Two trucks showed up and spent an hour over by a pedestal. They confirmed a problem and connected us to another pair of wires.

FCC notified me they had a response from Centurylink and a letter would follow from Centurylink. It came and Centurylink was good enough to credit me the full termination amount of $200. My only misgiving at this point is that I had to go through the whole process to...

Resolved: Unintelligible Customer Service | Centurylink review from Foley, Alabama
Update by user Aug 14, 2015
The saga continues. Century Link charged $26.25 for reconnecting what they incorrectly disconnected. When I reached a human after painfully working my way through too many computer questions, she refused to discuss the problem with me since I was not on the "authorized list." Rather than deal with the inept customer service by phone, I'll make the 30-minute trip to the local office so I can eyeball a representative.

Finally, I encountered a CenturyLink employee, Rodney, who was intelligent, articulate, and effective. Calling first, he checked my phone line and discovered that the problem was not in the line but in elsewhere, where it had been originally disconnected, as I had tried vainly to convince anyone who would listen.
I'll mark as "resolved," but the only thing that has been resolved is restoration of phone service, not the inept and unintelligible customer service.

Perhaps I should have said "imbecilic" as well as "unintelligible" customer service in the title.
First, my phone service was canceled when I wanted to cancel only DSL. Second, after several calls to set up a service call, the service call was canceled for no reason.
With persistence, another service call was then scheduled between 12 and 5 on Saturday with the promise of a call before arrival.
I called at 3:30 to learn that the serviceman was given the wrong unit number, even though the correct unit was on file. When he found nothing wrong, the service ticket was closed AGAIN!!!
Makes me remember how bad cable service was ten years ago, driving me to DISH.
Original review posted by user Jul 18, 2015When I disconnected my DSL and returned my modem, the phone service was inappropriately disconnected. After pushing too many unnecessary buttons to get to customer service in some foreign country, I could not understand three different customer service representatives nor could they understand me, only reading by rote the pre-scripted responses in front of them. When I finally asked to speak to a supervisor, I was greeted with obvious displeasure. Nevertheless, I was told service would be restored in 24 hours. The next day, after 22 hours, I called customer service again, this time being told that the "ticket" for service had been canceled, I'm thinking by a resentful representative. Now I'm standing by for another several hours, hoping my service is restored so that I never ever again have to call CenturyLink Customer Service.

A lady with Century Link contacted me. She indicated she would review the account.
They gave me a full refund. No apology, but that's OK I have my money back.
