Verified ReviewerNo show on service call
Internet is not working properly. Scheduled service, no show, no reason, no notification.
No way to contact customer service except through chat. I 'chatted' with 8 people and had to give my account information 8 times.
The only resolution was to reschedule for 5 days later and take off another day of work. Worst internet and customer service ever!
- Available in our area
- Slow internet and terrible customer service

Verified ReviewerHorrible Customer Service and Product Capability
I left and went to Starlink. When I called to cancel they asked how they could make it right, but didn't offer to pay my my monthly fee that they just charged when I brought it up. Happy so far with Starlink.
I called their tech support only to be told I am a high-end user (10 devices), 9 of which were not being used. I could not get them to help me. They said they don't see a problem and refused to let me speak to their supervisor and would not issue a service call ticket. I told them their system does not work and are telling me to find another ISP.
I hung up and ordered Starlink. I could tell that their tech support is out of the country and they kept reading from a script. I would not ever recommend this company to anyone because when you have an issue, they will abandon you.
OBTW, my system is using my phone hotspot just fine to write this review until my Starlink system arrives. Again, avoid CenturyLink!

A few years ago they were great! As of 2021, things started going downhill.
The internet works sometimes, and when I call them and find someone I can sort of understand, the internet works for the next month and then goes out again.
All they want is more money to fix the same problem, and nothing's worked. New modem, new wires, had a worker come out, more, more, more, more nothing's worked.
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Forgive them twice then just leave-it won’t get better and they just want more money to fix the same complain even after the first time didn’t work.
Unhappy with customer service
I used to have an email to the Customer Advocacy Group so that I could gain access to use a US based representative via telephone. The email address has been shutdown and I cannot get a US based representative.
They do not care anymore. I even tried to call and then asked to be transferred to a US based representative, not possible I was told.
User's recommendation: I do not see a way to get US based assistance. I plan to use COX or a competitor. They want people like me to leave using them obviously, so I will.
Can not speak to a live person.
You can't even talk to someone to report an outage. How stupid are they if the Internet is out how are they to go on line to report anything what *** That's why they just lost me as a long time customer. Be real and have someone pick up the phone so you can report an outage.

Verified ReviewerCancel/Disconnect Services
I have been trying to cancel all of my CenturyLink services over the past couple weeks & it has been extremely inconvenient. On my account page there is literally a butto.
That says 'Cancel Service', I click that & it takes me to a screen with a list of options to select the reason I'm canceling. I select that I'm going to another provider due to speeds offered & I then get a message stating I have to call or chat with CenturyLink. I select chat & follow the exact instructions provided on the Support/FAQ's page, & after going through a number of prompts I'm ultimately told that I must call customer service.
This is very frustrating when I work 60+ hrs a week & typically dont have time to call customer service & potentially have to hold for some amount of time, before then having to go through the entire cancellation process with an agent once my call is taken. I dont understand what the point of providing the very specific 'how to cancel service' instructions on the Support/FAQ's page, when in fact it is not actually going to allow the customer to truly cancel their service this way, but will ultimately waste more of their time on a pointless series of events which ends in the customer having to CALL customer service when its all said & done, in order to finally cancel their service.
- Slow speeds
- Primitive customer portal and app
Preferred solution: Cancel Services!
User's recommendation: Very primitive online account controls/capabilities; can't cancel service online or even via chat

Verified ReviewerNo Service For 21 Day… So Far!
I noticed my home phone was unusually quiet for several days on 12/21/24 and found no dial tone and no Internet. The modem lights just showed it was plugged in.
I called Century Link on 12/22/24 and at first they found no issues, but by the end of the call they had discovered an outage, so an appointment was set for 12/23/24, Ticket #0025272. The technician would come between 9:00am to 6:00pm. At 7:46am on 12/23/24, I received a text informing me the technician would now be there from 8:35am-12:35pm. Very specific.
I thought it was great. Ha! No show. No calls.
But a text at 1:15pm stated their team was working on the outage and expected the repairs to be finished by 12/30/24 at 10:00pm. Great! Christmas with no phone. At 3:57pm, another text moved the repair date to 12/31/25 at 11:00pm.
There went my New Year chat with online friends to welcome the new year from the East coast to the West. Now, I am 72 with multitudes of health and physical issues. I have an electric mobility chair and am on oxygen 24/7/365. Instability walking and a severe fall risk also plague me, along with heart issues.
I have a caregiver 30 hours a week and the emergency help, 'I've fallen' button, which is useless with no home phone. On 12/30/24, I made 4 calls via my cell phone to Century Link. At one point, I arranged a callback because the wait time was too long. No call came.
Each person I spoke with had very accented English and did not understand some of the words I used. They kept repeating 'I understand, I understand'. If I could have reached through the phone, I would have slapped each of them. They do not understand, nor do they care.
It is insulting! The next text stated the repair would be up and running by 01/07/25 at 11:00pm. At 3:14pm I called again; it took 14 minutes to reach someone in Asia (or a similar Eastern area) who then informed me it would be repaired on 01/10/25. No confirmation text regarding the new date via email either.
It is now the 21st day. I live in fear! My cellular data had to be updated twice at an extra cost. I'm on disability and there's barely enough to live on.
I have to charge the phone and cannot take it as I move around. I cannot even access anything online and still, there are no repairs. I cannot even order my grocery delivery! I'm scared.
I'm tired of being lied to and no one seems to care. At least if they tried to explain the issue it would have helped.
I'm not alone; there are several other seniors in this mobile home park with the same issue. Century Link sucks!
- Phone hold times approaching 1 hour
- Internet goes out multiple times a daya day
- Terrible customer service

Verified Reviewer |Disability discrimination, zero transparency, tons of outages
CenturyLink has had to repair my internet well over a dozen times in the last year alone. The last few techs have told me over the phone that the cause of the outages is due to the landlord's set up...I'm in an apartment complex.
I've heard that the ll's equipment is outdated, positioned wrongly, etc. Each tech has advised me that they've spoken to the landlord about the problem. Yet it persists, and I estimate that I've gone a good month without internet over the last year, again, within a 12-month period. Prior to that, it was even worse.
So, my ll declines all responsibility, and claims that CL has never approached them regarding any internet issue. Since many of my neighbors have also been impacted by this issue (per repair techs), I find this hard to believe. But I've requested records of the repairs, notes, outage causes, etc. from CL, and they're refusing to cooperate.
Yesterday a supervisor named Jaylee promised me she'd send me a history of all of my chat transcripts to my email within one day. She didn't. She sent me a copy of our chat. The chats would have at least proven that I had to request these repairs.
But they wouldn't have held the ll liable. I've explained to CL/Lumen that if the ll is the problem, it would be in their own best interest to cooperate with me and provide me with records so that I can get the ll to fix this issue.
No dice. They're dodgy, their company headquarters are very difficult to find or access, and their front line simply couldn't care less.

Made several attempts to Add new credit card but unsuccessful.

So what are my options?
Issues with my bill

Repair
Our landline through CenturyLink has been out of service since 10/28. 4 repair tickets have been issued, but currently my account shows no repair tickets.
I have received texts and emails about service always being repaired the next day when I chat with someone.
I have not been able to speak or chat with anyone who can give me an honest answer about a true time frame for repair.
My husband does not have a cell phone and it has created a hardship when getting messages from doctor offices, pharmacies, friends etc.
When u call our phone, it either rings continually or has a constant busy signal.
The most frustrating thing is when u do reach a human at the company, after checking your account etc, they put you on hold and u are transferred to some other person.
I ran across this site when searching for contact information for CenturyLink.
I am hoping my post, along with those of others, will help the company to create a true Customer Service approach when dealing with customers. Being able to speak with someone after a few simple prompts.
