Advanced ReviewerAfter I tried additional contacts with tech, which once again didn't work and wasted my time, I complained to Centurylink's Facebook account, and after several days was referred back to tech, and this time they admitted I simply needed a new modem. They sent a new one to me.
It was a dud and did not work.
I had to return the old one, then return the new one, and then they sent another new one. It works better than the old one, however I still have slow connection sometimes, so not really sure my problem is resolved or not since I haven't had another Zoom meeting to test it yet (I was disconnected from two Zoom sessions on the old modem).
They don't even deserve one star. I'm paying for 896K/20M, yet I have both slow upload and download speeds, and have had problems in telehealth and Zoom meetings freeze up, no one can hear me, they say I cut in and out.
I have updated my modem software, restarted the modem, made sure WiFi is turned off so that no one can *** my connection, etc, and nothing helps. I tried contacting tech and was switched back and forth between various departments, having to re-explain my problems each time, only to find out it wasn't tech and was transferred again. When finally got through to tech after four transfers they listen to nothing I say and just copy and paste responses that have nothing to do with what I'm telling them. They claim I over-utilized for seven out of the last seven days (5M should be enough for one person, yet they claim I'm over-utilizing while paying for 20M).
I told them I am the only person in my household, I have only one device a desktop computer rarely watch TV on it, don't do any gaming, don't use WiFi, and the most bandwidth I use is watching some low-resolution YouTube videos.
They reject that and make excuses. They're throttling me.
User's recommendation: avoid them.
Monetary Loss: $120.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
