Centurylink is a great name for them. They seem permanently liked to the 1900's in technical capability. My internet download speeds are 20 times slower than my Cox internet at my other home and the upload speeds are are 10 times slower. And I only have the basic...

Pissed off, driver dropped off package to neighbor. | Centurylink review from Anniston, Alabama

i told the driver to not deliver my package to anyone else but me and he left it on a porch of a house somewhere next door and it was stolen. i called and the ups store said the drivers could make the decison to drop it off where ever they want. they mine as well give the stuff away, cause thats what it seems like. so the driver does'nt even check and make sure that the place where he drops it off is the correct address and if it's ok with the person who is recieving the package.

Get ready for MONTHS and MONTHS of wrong billing. I have been dealing with them since August.

Every month my bill is screwed up. They'll blame it on "their system".

Scam Artists-Company Comes First | Centurylink review from Mesa, Arizona

So, I cancelled my service with Centurylink (formerly known as Qwest) due to the fact that I was selling my home. I cancelled service for November 17th and the girl confirmed that I would not be charged any further charges and that my auto-pay would be cancelled as well. RIIIIIIIIGHT! So, Dec 1st my bank account is charged the full amount of my monthly bill (after I had already disconnected service). So, I contacted Centurylink to see what the issue was. The gentleman I spoke with...Jeremy, told me that he had marked my account, apologized for the mistake and said that I should receive my refund check by mail in about 4 weeks. So, I wait... Then, fast forward to January, I get an email that my refund of $43.90 (due to mid month disconnection) has now been reduced to $32.64. I log in to see that they have now charged me AGAIN!!!!! I call one more time, this time they tell me that I only requested a vacation hold/suspension and that a full disconnection was never completed. I told them that was a mistake and that I shouldn't have to pay for that since I called to follow up with Jeremy in December. They told me unless I had a confirmation number that they could only go by what notes were written on my account. So, thank you Centurylink, you have now made me a lifetime Cox customer. JR

Customer Service Not Included | Centurylink review from Seattle, Washington

After several months of decent internet service, I have just experienced two days of the worst customer service I have ever encountered (and the problem is still not resolved). Our internet went out on Sunday morning. Sunday evening, we called tech support and after 45 minutes on the phone with several different people/departments explaining our situation over and over again, we finally received a diagnosis of "broken internet" and were told a technician would have to investigate in person. The soonest appointment they had available was the following Wednesday, which is not ideal for people who work from home but we agreed to it for lack of an alternative. I called on Monday morning to see if there were any cancellations with technicians that would allow a sooner appointment. The customer service representative I spoke with checked with the dispatch team and told me they were able to send someone to my house that afternoon but would not be able to confirm a time since it was a last-minute addition. I said this was fine and requested the afternoon off work to sit at home and wait. Several hours later and no sign of a technician, I called again and was shocked to learn (again, after 47 minutes on the phone) that although there was a note in my file from the previous rep confirming that she'd told me a technician would be out that afternoon, nothing had actually been scheduled with the dispatcher and they would now not be out until later than the original time on Wednesday. I tried speaking with a supervisor in hopes they'd be reasonable and/or powerful enough to convince whoever needed to be convinced that Century Link should probably do what they told me they'd do, but she simply said "I'm sorry" and sat in silence, unable or unwilling to provide me with the service I'd been promised. I was so disappointed with this experience that I went online today trying to find an email address to send my comments to. The website offers only phone numbers (not going there again) and online forms that go to who knows where, so I engaged another customer service representative in a "chat" to request an email address. She not only directed me back to the website forms without understanding or caring that I wanted an actual email address - finally revealing that she didn't know any email addresses for anyone at the company? - but she was completely unprofessional, responding to my requests for help with lines like "??" and eventually disconnecting our chat without my permission and without resolving my issue. I feel like Century Link service is probably fine if you pay your bill online and your internet never goes down. Once something happens, you're drowning in a sea of incompetent, unhelpful people without even the illusion of customer service to rely on. After this experience, I'm more than ready to cancel my service and switch to another provider in our area. WORST.

Century Link is the worst out there. | Centurylink review from Winter Park, Florida

I've had Century Link for about 2 years now. When we first got the service we opted for the mail to be sent to the house vs electronically. Well we would receive the bill extremely late & almost always over due we then had to switch to online billing because it had just gotten so out of hand & my husband and I ended up paying more in late fee's and who knows what else that we gave in. Off the bat we noticed the slow & laggy internet on both our xbox and computer. Thinking it was just to much at once we limited to either xbox or computer at a time & that didn't even work. Then I came to find out someone had been charging programs under my husbands name to Century link. So I called customer Service and had a god awful time trying to explain to them my situation but then was told to call the company that was making the chargers (That's another story, for another day.) only after I got a load of attitude. After dealing with the other companies I called back to add a block to the phone (Which you can't use since it's only set up to have the internet service & you can only make emergency calls). Next month I find new charges by a different company & come to find out Century link NEVER added the block to the phone for any 3rd party charges they just added a 'note'. Then we move on to today; I got my newest bill and expecting it to be cheaper due to some changes I made I see a bill that is about $60 over. When I look at the charges I notice that when I asked the lady if I was going to be charged shipping for a new modem she said no, it was free I also asked if we were going to be charged a change of address fee (For moving & having it turned on here) She once again assured me no, I wouldn't be charged. Eh, Wrong. I would have been fine if she said YES. Anyway, Century Link is awful & have done nothing but fight for glitch service & slow speeds. :/ Stay away if at all possible & avoid ALL this hassle!

Century Link Internet Services SUX | Centurylink review from Minneapolis, Minnesota

Since Century Link took over from Embarq has been nothing but problems getting the speeds we pay for. You have delays on websites and check speedtest sites and see you are not getting responses you should be getting like paying for 3mbs and getting barely 1.5mbs. Century Link tells you to go their site and can you believe it, it shows 3.01 just like it should. This company is playing with thier customers and trying to get them to upgrade service etc.. There is no reason I need faster than 3.0mbs for what I do and the delays on it getting a website are just crazy. I know all about virus / malware as I support computers for a living. This is definitly a scam and I will tell you that they have no idea how pissed off people are. They want you to pay more for something you don't need. Do not ever think of going with them if you have other options as you will be very disappointed.

Overcharged for months.. | Centurylink review from Helena, Montana

CenturyLink adopted a new rate structure in September 2011. CenturyLink did NOT notify existing customers of price change. The price change would reduce my bill by $30.00/mo. I helped a neighbor look at signing up for CenturyLink Phone/Internet service on the internet and that is how I found out that the rates for the same services I have are now $30.00 cheaper than what I've been paying. I called and a Customer Serv. Rep. did change my rate but would only credit me one month back at the new rate. He told me that they had too many customers to notify them every time there was a rate change. I told him I bet they would notify everyone if there was a rate hike! Too ticked to continue..... I hung up.

CenturyLink are a bunch of Dorks!

Two months ago our phone bill started coming in Spanish. We have had the phone number for five years, and guess what, we don't speak spanish. Never have. Now they are telling me that there records indicate we 'prefer to do buiness in spanish'. We give them $95 per month for local calls, long distance and very slow DSL; and they can't even send us a bill in English? We are getting cable internet because they have never upgraded our DSL. I hate to do it since the cable company is a big rip off but what can you do.

CenturyLink Lied!

I returned my modem in the UPS Package THEY GAVE ME! And then called to confirm they received the modem in December. They told me they did, and then I get a bill for $60 saying I didn't return it. I call them up and wait 45 minutes on the phone with a woman named Melinda who can't solve the issue and then called me a liar! She wouldn't let me speak to her supervisor and wouldn't resolve the problem! They provided me with UPS Packaging and a Label and they don't even keep records of what THEY GAVE ME!!!

When a company sends you a prepaid label to send something back to them ALWAYS, ALWAYS make sure to write down the tracking number on the pre-paid label for your records. This way you can track the package yourself and once it is returned you can print a copy of the return and fax it to the proper department for credit. Just a FYI!
