Cost me my professional reputation and money

CenturyLink DSL goes down several tgimes threoughout the day and night. I work from home and on the computer as a teacher and at another job. I cannot get paid if the internet service can't be consistent since it is on the computer where I make my living! I have had Centurylink come out and had to call them more than 10 -15 times requesting they address why the DSL service can not remain consistently up. They refer my inquiries to outsourced peoplke who barely speak english. I am disgusted with Centurylink's services and faiulure to address the issues that affect the quality of service they provide. As soon as possible I am changing to Comcast.

Sale REPs LIES! management LIES! Mislead and misinformed!

I already have Centurylink internet. I called in to bundle Direct TV. Sales rep told me I would get choice extra tv pack with cinema hbo and NFL Sunday ticket. On top of that if I schedule an appointment today I'd also get the Sport Pack for free for a year. Sounds like a great deal for $44.98 a month. He also stated there will be a 2 year contract and rate would not increase to more than $60 a month. That was like music to my ears. So I scheduled the appointment. After the installation, I did not get all the channels as promised. Therefore I called Direct TV and was told that I've got the Choice package...NO SPORT PACK and FOund out that the rate will raise at least 40 dollars for the second year! WOW! So there I go on the phone with Century StinK who try to push me back to deal with direct tv and finally able to talk to the century stink managers who asked for 24 hours to review the call recordings and will call me back. 5 days later I still haven't heard from them. So i called them back and they don't know what's going on. The process start all over again...DO NOT DEAL WITH CENTURY LINK. THEY LIKE TO PLAY THE BLAME GAMES. THEY LIE AND SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO GET YOU TO CONNECT AND THEN ***. YOU'LL BE SPENDING HOURS ON THE PHONE ON HOLD TRYING TO GET ANYTHING RESOLVED.

I've tried for months to reduce my Century link bill but it's useless. I started with Embarq and my rate was $50.00 with basis plan & internet sevices.

It has now gone to $74.00 plus renting a internet box with Century Link. I hardly use the phone but I keep the internet services for my job. I can't continue to pay this monthly bill. I think it's overprice for one service that's needed.

I'm switching to my cell phone it's cheaper. :sigh

Beware of Centurylink:

I have been charged for a DISH converter that I returned in the time allotted and DISH has confirmed it's return on conference call with Centurylink supervisors 2 times, I have also sent them tracking numbers that confirms it's return. They continually tell me the credit is coming, it will show on the next bill. I have waited for the credit for 2 months and I received my most recent bill today and I still haven't been credited. I have spent hours on the phone listening to Centurylink blame DISH despite confirmation of DISH'S credit to Centurylink for the returned receiver. I will never subscribe to another service through Centurylink. I have been a customer in good standing with Centurylink since before it was Centurytel. I will be contacting the FTC and the FCC.

We have been with CenturyTel, then CenturyLink for many years, paying for a higher speed DSL. One of our neighbors had to call them for repairwork.

The service person was honest enough to tell them they were wasting their money paying for a higher speed because only the slowest speed was available on our road. We live in the country and have limited options, so they take advantage of the situation. We have considered switching to Sprint internet since they are our cell provider and have had no problems that couldn't be resolved with one phone call. However in our location cell service is not the best in the winter.

The local Sprint store employees were honest enough to tell us that if phone service was spotty, the internet would be too. So CenturyLink gets to continue to steal from us while the company that has been honest loses out.

If I could do something else, I would never deal with CenturyLink again. But don't pay your bill late.

Paula R Hsp

I am not from Gig Harbor, WA. I don't know why it entered that or how to change it. If someone can tell me how to change it I would greatly appreciate your help.

Century link rude agents, very unhelpful.

I called 888285**** at 10:32 to find out why my internet wasn't working. Got ahold of Melinda.

Told me my account was closed (not sure why, I have been paying my bill, so now they owe me money). I said ok well I need to get internet working again. Asked what is the lowest cost of internet with no contract, no intro rate. She said I will have to put you on hold so she can talk to her superviser.

Waited 10 minutes, hung up. Called back and got Alyssa. She got a new account setup, and said I will need to talk to credit for the refund on the old account. She had to fill a report in order to turn me over to credit, and can I hold for 5 minutes, I said sure.

Credit answered with Alyssa on the line and the other person was rude (not only to me, but Alyssa also) and said well you're going to have to call billing. Alyssa said I cannot transfer you to billing (guess the on hold while she filled out the form was a waste) and gave me 877 348 ****. Renee from billing answered and I could tell right away she wasn't going to help me. She said well you need to talk to retentions before I could hardly explain my reason for calling, would not listen to what I had been thru thus far (I am about 1 hour into it now).

She said and you don't need to be rude to me and could I lower my voice. I was upset, but was not yelling at this point. Put me on hold without asking and then hung up on me. Called back to 888 285 **** and spoke with Patricia, she said well we can't help you as this is your daughters account and you are not authorized.

1.5 hours on the phone with them and still didn't get help getting my money back... My daughter is going to have to call and waste her time.

All in all it was Melinda and Renee (and the woman from Credit, did not get her name). Just very unhelpful people, why do they work in that line if there goal is to see how unhelpful they can be...

They are all idiots. I'm not sure why.

They couldn't get my bill right for 6 months. Of course, they like to "stress" they have American customer service reps.

I've had faster Dial-UP, than CenturyLink DSL!

Ever since I have had United, changed to Embarq, changed to CenturyLink, and who knows what they call themselves now. Their DSL service ABSOLUTELY SUCKS! I have actually had Dial-up that was faster loading (when I used their accelerator) than what the CenturyLink (I think they still call it that) DSL service is. I have complained many, many times ofer the words I have it, and most times they say all tests come out great, but once in a while I will get an HONEST person who will tell me there is a problem on the line. Once actually had a guy I have known for many years, come out to check things, and he told me there was a problem with a relay on the line, and he would put in to have it changed, as he could not do it on his own. Evidently they never did anything to it, as things never got any better. I was reciently SUPPOSEDLY upgraded to 8.0 (their top service), from the 1.5 that I had been paying for, and I can tell NO DIFFERENCE in the service. I tried to up-load an 8.8 minute (1.3 Gig) video yesterday, and it ONLY took me 11 hours and 57 minutes to get it uploaded! Now? Is that High Speed Service, as they brag about? I am searching for a phone number for the main office to try to get some action from there, than if not, I will go to Public Utilities Commission. Anyone interested in filing a Class Action Suit against them? Sure wish there was a choice in service rather than being stuck with this Monopoly!

Century link just a rename of Qwest

I attempted to switch from Comcast to Century link in order to get cheaper service and better customer service. After three days of working with their equipment I gave up and canceled service from Century link so there was no cost savings.

Since it was within the month grace period I was told that all I had to do was send back their equipment and all I would have to pay was the $99 for installation, which was subpar at best. Two days after canceling service I get a call at work from their collections department for nonpayment of my bill. I waited till I got home to start chewing on a supervisor about this. He assured me this was an error and he would check into it.

My equipment has yet to arrive in their warehouse. One week after the call at work I get a letter from a collections agency over this bill. At this point it has not even been a month since I attempted to switch service. I called Century link to check if my equipment had arrived.

Since it has I agree to pay over the phone in order to disengage with Century link. Once all the fees have been applied my final bill now is $122.95.

I hope never to deal with these incompetents again. Customer service overall was even worse than Comcast, I did not think that was possible.

I completely agree with you because I had a very similar experience! I switched from Comcast just like you and now I am trying to find an alternative to escape Century Link!

I think the only way they get away with this is because BOTH companies are SO BAD, they figure why step up and do the right thing? It's disgusting. We bought the equipment, unfortunately, so now we are stuck with it, but at least we have some useless piece of junk as a doorstop for our $122!! Buyer beware, this company is awful.

And their sales tactics are fraudulent. They lie like thieves on the phone. I highly recommend you record the calls yourself when you talk to them, because everything is FREE on the phone. Then that bill comes in the mail and the collections agents come calling.

I am contacting the Attorney General's office in MN about them, and I hope you will consider doing the same in Ohio! Good luck.

Ripped me off and customer service sucks

We contract Century Link based on the TV ad of $19.95 mo. for internet, and we found out was BS deal, because you have to buy their bundle which raise the price to about $85.00 a mo. when they offer international calls i asked the sales person if this will have included call to Mexico since my husband have family in that country and she said yes,i should believe what he said in the begining, that this was an scam, because he was right, after receive our first bill the bill was $182.00 and that only because he told me was going to use the service only 2 times with really short calls to test them. They never found the recorded conversation when i contracted the service,so then i have to paid them the complete amount and by the time they told me that they could not help me with the problem, they charge me late fee and in the middle of the next period i already owe them the next $85.00 plus another late fee without even end the period of service,i call them back to claim this ridiculous fee and the lady who took my call make me wait for a while until we reach 7:00 PM to send me to the machine telling me to call next day because they where out of the office hours

These *** want to charge me $55 to transfer my service from my old house to new. I called a week before and now one showed up.

I called they tell me someone came on oct 12 even though the appointment was for the 13th. I said that wouldve been great except no *** showed up on the 12th either. I called customer service got hung up 3 times. Very unprofessional company, no manners how to treat a customer who pays their bills.

I see there are many fellow AMERICANS getting ripped off its time to stop and act now. Im taking them to court you are all welcome to join me plz email Raqib82@***.com.

Century link sucks!!! it's a rip off!!!.

I have the bundle..internet and phone. 35.00 less 15.00 for internet 35.00 for phone service/10.00 for long distance. I don't need the long distance...that jacks my bill up 10.00 plus 9.00 in taxes and fees.

they will not cancel off just the long distance cuz it's the "package" if they do, they will charge you separate for phone and internet which is much higher...what a rip...you can buy basic plane jane phone service and then pick n choose the services you want to add on, but you cant do that with the bundling package..It just can't be done. yea right...i would like to know who is the one that creates these plans...someone has to have the authority..when asked if there was someone else i could talk to she said no....It's just SICKENING the way these companies rip you off..

CenturyLink internet is AWFUL.

My boyfriend and I called centurylink to get wireless internet in our country home. So i call on a thursday or friday and the lady says I will receive my modem on that following tuesday. well the modem shows up thursday and we go to set it up and it doesn't work. so we call C.L. and they tell us that our account won't be active until the next day (friday), so we wait 24 hours and try again with no success. So we call and the next person I speak to says that my account was then activated and we should be able to connect, well that failed also. so i call tech support and the guy takes me through some basic procedures to try and get the DSL working. well nothing worked so he set it up for a tech guy to come take a look, he says to me that someone will be there between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., so i wait home all day for this guy and at 5 p.m. he still hadn't shown up so i call tech support at 5 and they tell us that saturday was full so the computer automatically moved us to monday- and nobody notified us.. so monday i wait from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AGAIN and no one shows up, and I even called at 2:30 to confirm someone was coming and they said yes. but no one showed up. so i call AGAIN and they say that the tech guy had signed out already and there was nothing they could do and someone would be there first thing tuesday morning. so this morning i call them and this guy i spoke with was the only one that mentioned to me that in my area (Ohio) things have been very backed up and people who called in june were still waiting for a tech guy. and in all this time no one ever gave us a call and let us know what was going on. the tech guy came this morning and the internet got hooked up after he did his thing, but now i cannot access my account online. it keeps telling me i have an invalid email, a bad password or an invalid account number. honestly i've had centurylink for less than a week and they're already showing me how badly they can screw up.. i wouldn't reccommend becoming a new customer. not to mention i'll be charged 80 bucks on my first bill for this *** service.

Your company is hands down the worst company I have ever had to deal with. First off, I didn't want your slow, overpriced internet service, but it was really our only option in the town we moved to. Charter, my previous ISP, blows you out of the water in every aspect. No install fee, faster internet, and cheaper prices. So, I was basically forced to go with you if I wanted internet service.

This horrible string of experiences with you all started when I called the local shop in Tomah, WI to set up service. They didn't answer the first few times I called, but then when they did, they tried to help me for about ten minutes and then said "their computers were down and would have to call me back". I said I would just call the main customer service line. I then talked to what seemed like a fairly nice rep that I found out later didn't explain the install process correctly at all. She told me that I would have the modem sent via ups (correct) and that I would need to be home on the install date because a technician would come SOMETIME before 5:00 (incorrect). So, I took vacation from work to stay home for what I thought was a technician coming to install my modem. Day of install and 15 ridiculous dollars later I received the modem in the mail. Late afternoon rolls around on install date and I decide to call to see if the technician is coming soon as I have been waiting around not working or thinking I can leave my house ALL DAY. The rep said, "oh they only come to flip a switch outside, but I can't tell if they have come yet or not. Give it til 7:00 and you should be good to install yourself." No, "sorry for the inconvenience and misinformation", or any other common sense thing to say to a customer in that situation. I don't mind installing myself, but that's not what I was told, hence the vacation day. Not to mention another $15 fee for install. Unbelievable!

I got the modem set up and I was thinking it was just a few bumps in the beginning. That was definitely an error in my thought process. I tried to call with questions a couple times, but your customer service CLOSES at 7:00!!! Seriously, what kind of customer service is that? Must be because that’s when everyone is off work and wants to call in and complain about your slow internet and horrible service, or lack there of. So, the next day I call on a break at work to see when my bill was going to process, and how much it would be. The rep said they couldn’t see anything yet. Later that afternoon I get my bill delivered electronically through my bank’s bill pay. Don’t know how my bank had the bill later that SAME afternoon, but your rep “couldn’t see it yet”??? So I get done with work, see the bill, and almost fell off my chair when I saw the amount due on the vague, somewhat difficult to read bill. It was over two times the amount of what I was told my normal bill would be. I had the service for NINE days at this point. So I call in, but of course it’s after 7:00 so your customer service is closed. By the way, the automated system doesn’t tell you that until you’ve already spent the time to punch all your info in. I am fuming at this point so I call again and choose to speak to a tech support rep. He was actually pretty decent, but of course couldn’t see the info I was inquiring about and said I would have to call back tomorrow. So, I call back the next day, enter my info in to the automated system, and after about two minutes of holding, the system says “Maximum Hold Time Reached” and HANGS UP ON ME! After two more tries with the same results, I choose the tech support option again and get through to someone right away. They transfer me directly over to someone in “customer service”. Unbelievable! Again. This is the last rep I have talked to. I asked her why my bill was so high, and she stumbled around for a bit, and hesitantly tells me that it’s because you bill one month ahead, prorated charges for my 9 days so far, and the install and shipping fees. Oh, also the almost $10 of junk fees that, who knows what goes to. After I explained how I was told that a tech was coming out to install, and that I have never had to pay an install fee even if someone did actually come do something, she said, with and attitude and no apology, “were you informed of the fee”? I said “yes, but you guys told me you were sending someone out to my house, and I took vacation from work!” She said, “well we can do courtesy refunds, but you need to call in and let us know.” At this point I realize she is not really listening to me at all, and I said, “what do you think I am doing right now?” She then says, “Well I am waiving the $15 install fee.” Couple minutes of dead air go by and she comes back and tries to sell me TV service. I wanted to say, “you (centurylink) and directv can go jump off a cliff together.” Everyone would be better off, but refrained, said thank you, but no thanks. I actually know how to use that word. Please and sorry are also in my vocabulary unlike your reps.

I am a Trainer at a call center for one of the nations largest financial institutions. I know that customer service can’t be perfect, but when it’s consistently bad, something is wrong. You guys need to seriously work on it. Your one-year contract agreements aren’t going to keep people around forever. Also, I know it won’t hurt you too bad, and if your corporate office is anything like your reps, you probably won’t care, but I will go out of my way to tell anyone I can to run when they hear centurylink. Maybe you can redeem yourself; we’ll see what comes of this email, which will be posted in more places than your contact us email!

Century Link IS SLOW in Arizona

We had 2 computers and 2 Roku boxes working fine and when Century Link took over from Qwest...now we can only use one computer at a time. My son called and they said they have cut each customer to a tiny ban width space and maybe going to charge us for larger chunks in the future. I think we can complain to the government agency FCC. Need to do some research on this. Everything was fine until the goliath corporation took over and now is one of the biggest monopolies. Update: I called Century Link a manager said the technicians are working on the problem and it should be resolved in a couple of days. What was funny is when I called in to Tech Support they actually had a #for Slow Speed.

Welcome to the club! I've been stuck with CenturyLink here in Washington state for 8+ years, and they are the worst utility I've ever had the misfortune to encounter.

Unreliable service and either their internal communication is nonexistent or they lie as a matter of policy. Endless frustration. No cable internet available in my rural area, so I'm stuck with their "bandwidth issues" -- which gee, just like they told you, are going to be resolved with all new equipment in this area within days.

Yeah, sure... Like all the other lies they've told.

Centurylink liars about 19.99 on their big signs!!!

I signed up following the 19.99 dlls. promotion in all their signs (centurylink for internet service) all over the city, they promised free modem, and final payment of 19.99 + tax., and that they would extend the promotion for a year if I called when five months of service, the lady promising all this thing gave me her email, to contact her later on after those five months.

When i get my bill, they are charging 99.99 dlls for the modem, and 60 dlls for the service, when I contact the lady, her name is deborah Trujillo, just in case SHE gets your call, SHE IS A LIAR, and of course SHE never answered my emails,.... Well I contact the company by phone, and they say, the price for residencial is now 29.99 dlls.

And that I would have either pay for the modem or rent it for 6 dlls. They of course veryfied her email, it was right, I wrote again, and SHE never answered.

I hope you read this before hiring this company of LIARS...

Century Link is trying to do something similar to me. On May 8th they were unable to get 26 Mbps going and offered to downgrade me to 10 Mbps for life for only 19.99 plus taxes.

Now they want to charge me $45 a mouth plus. Dishonorable company.

Guest

Century link doesn't know the power of social media.

Guest

they lied to me too about the same thing to get me to stay with them, got the bill and it still 72.99 and then i call and they say their best plan is 29.99/month.

CenturyLink is NOT a trustworthy company

Century link must be the most unethical company in the state. I made a payment of $142 for two months ( what happened to $19.95) and Century link took out this months payment from my checking without permission.

They STOLE my money! Worse company on the planet.

Centurylink dsl

I pay for 3Mps dsl internet. Since I ran a test tonight and found that I pinged at 248 download speed 0.34mps and upload speed of 0.18mps I'm pissed! Any one wanting high speed internet should stay away from Centurylink! If you live in SW Mo. where they offer Century link or Suddenlink, definitely go with Suddenlink. Before my hair brained Daughter made the move from Suddenlink my download speed was 18.89mps and upload was 9.47mps when I was paying for 8mps. I will give a great review for Suddenlink and tell Century link to wipe their buts with my next bill.

Horrible Internet

I had centurylink for about 6 months and it just kept getting worse. I was almost always getting kicked off the internet and couldn't not reconnect for hours. I do use my internet a lot, but that is why I pay for unlimited internet. In their promotion material they say they don't throttle internet service. They say, "Are you losing money on your current phone or internet service? If you have ever noticed your current broadband or DSL connection slow down, your current provider may be throttling your speeds to accommodate all of their customers' needs. That is where CenturyLink in Colorado makes a difference. You get quality services, consistency and best of all, savings because you will get more for less". Yet then they say in the fine print, "In some cases, we may limit the number of customers that may be served on a particular network node until additional capacity can be added. We also seek to ensure that our customers are not excessively using the service." Then everyone wonders why centurylink internet doesn't work with ***. My advice is stay away from centurylink.

Centurylink has definitely been throttling my connection speeds. I've been testing this theory for almost 2 years now and here's what I've learned.

I use Bittorrent very frequently to download movies and such and allow the files to seed for other users to upload. Basically when I use my full bandwith for a few days they throttle my speeds to about 50%. A few more days of doing this and I'm suddenly down to about 25%. A few more days and I'm down to about 10%.

The only way to get my speeds back up is to lay off it for a few days and they'll bump my speeds back up a step. For example if my speeds are at 25% I won't use it for a few days and they'll put it back to 50%. I've thoroughly tested this theory using the speed test tool on Centurylink's website and the pattern always holds. Sometimes when I get down to 10% of my connection speed I'll call and have a centurylink technician come out to "fix" my service.

I've done this several times now and about 5 to 10 minutes before the technician shows up my connection speed will miraculously be back at 100%. The technician shows up pretends to fix something, and gives me some *** excuse about the possible reasons for my connection speeds being slow.

I'm assuming the technicians are aware of the throttling situation so prior to showing up at a residence they call home base and have them restore the connection speeds. There's no way in *** this is all a coincidence.

Guest

Here is how you find out what the better deal is. Find out what the normal price you would pay for internet without any pricing incentives.

For example say centurylink has 7 Mbps/5 Mbps for $40 a month. You actually have to look at the Pricing Details to find out what the normal price is. The 6 months offer will only be for 6 months and that is it. After that you will be paying quite a bit for not to great of a speed.

Then with with comcast you will have 20 Mbps and upload speeds up to 4 Mbps for about $50. What really counts is the download speed because most even with watching a video if you have a download speed of 7 Mbps you are going to have really slow internet.

Centurylink in many areas only has speeds up to 7 Mbps. If you are just browsing the internet to read the new or check your email than maybe it might work okay but otherwise expect it to not work.

Guest

Everything was fine until 2 years ago. I have spent a lot of my free time troubleshootinh windows 7, Actiontec Q1000 modem, AVG antivirus.

I bought a portforwarding frogram $40, got desperate and used AVG's service dept. for $60 that couldn't get anywhere.

It is all about the big entertainment and music corporations getting in bed t=with these rascals. I am afraid if I cange to Cox I will run into the same thing.

Guest

I have CenturyTel fiber to the home, and it is one of the worst ISP's I have ever had. Just horrible bandwidth stability, ping, jitter, dropped packets.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Guest

We were talked in to getting it and told it was equivalent to BoradBand. Lies went from about 40 Mbps to 7 Mbps (if that?) upload and from 3 Mbps up to .7 Mbps.

We have intermittent no service drops late at night lasting from 5 to 30 minutes almost every night and sometimes during the day?

If you want internet when you want it it's unfortunately overpriced Comcast ... but hey it works faster and better than centurylink DSL!!!

Guest

My mail is heathepw@***.com if anybody has a suggestion. I have been burdened with HughesNet satellite internet for years and had all kinds of problems over the last 6 months.

I'm paying $70 a month for sorry service with them and now I have the option of getting CenturyLink for much less.

What to do???? After reading all this now I am worried about CenturyLink.

Century Link Illegal activity - indicate verbal contract when order was placed via computer

I cancelled my service with CenturyLink due to multiple failures. When I called to cancel I was told that I had a contract in place.

When I said that I didn't sign anything they informed me that it was verbal. I indicated that I placed my order online and that I had never called them for anything and certainly wasn't notified of a contract.

There was much humming, hawing and typing but no evidence of a contract was produced however I am still subject to a penalty for canceling due to their poor quality service and product failures. Stay clear if you value your sanity!!

Lookup your local laws, Luckily in Nevada a verbal agreement isn't legal for anything over $500.I placed a complaint with the BBB, stating what this, the whole year "contract" would've been $550 for the in tenet services therefore not making a verbal agreement legal and me being able to cancel without a fee. good luck guys.

I'm going through the same thing with them.

The same story is here. Pay it month by month.

Centurylink just changed their contract on my bill in tiny print, which started at last November. When I try to cancel my service in this spring, they tell me I have a contract on it by verbal, which never happen.

Someone should start a Classic Action Lawsuit against their "verbal contract".

Someone should start a class action.

issue was solved this way (true story): I was about to print 2,000 flyers narrating the situation and to distribute them all around my neighbourhood. I sent a first bunch of 20 flyers to the director of communication in the HQ, asking him to redistribute it to his immediate staff before I sent the 1980 left.

In a few days I received a call from Centurylink.

They cancelled the $200 bill that they were claiming and gave me a check for $3.56, telling to me that they had made an pending adjustment in my bill. You're welcome, Centurylink!

This is a scam, I thought CenturyLink was a serious company.

It happened the same to me, only that I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO be charge for something I never agreed with. I will not pay that unless a judge tells me to do so.

I cancelled the service because they simply interrupted me the service for almost one week because of a breakdown that was their fault. (and of course, they never credit me for that in the bill)

When I said that I never was informed nor signed the penalty fee, the person at their office (absolutely rude and *** showed to me that according to their computer notes I had signed a verbal agreement on that cancellation fee. (an absolutely lie!!!)

I specifically ordered my bank NOT TO PAY that bill.

I don't mind what they are going to do. I am willing to spend 10 times the amount they claim me to widespread the their bad practices: flyers, postings in my car, boards... whatever I can do against this abusive company.

I will be willing to tell you more and give you more documentation about all this if you want.

Let me tell you the outcome of this complain: Century Link called me to tell me that they had review my case and I was going to receive a $5 check as credit for my final balance. End of the story with this people, but let me tell you: we should never give up with these abuses from the big companies. (I meant it: I was about to spend $100 to print out 2000 flyers telling my story and deliver them in the neighborhood)

Dido - I am in a similar situation. I was "promised" by the salesperson that if I moved in less than 12 months that I would not receive an early termination fee.

I called to inform that I would be cancelling my service in a month, and they wanted to charge me a $140 fee.

They said I agreed to a verbal contract - and I guess I did, but it was on the conditions promised by the salesperson 10 months ago that I would not receive the fee. I asked for a copy of the contract and they said they don't give customers copies of the contract.

I'm in the middle of working my complaint up to the higher-ups. We'll see what happens.

Century link incompetent and wastes time with customer service

Updated by user Sep 11, 2012

On top of still not having service 9/10/12 I found out the speed I was paying for, 12mbs, isn\'t even available, only 1.5mbs. I\'m done.

I was lied to repeatedly. When I first got my service I was lied to when they said it was 7mbs and I didn\'t find out for over a year they didn\'t have that speed.

Let\'s sue these lying ***. Class action will force them to stop these bad business practices.

I transferred service on 8/31/12 and spent 49 minutes and 52 seconds doing so. I was told it would be turned on 9/4/12. When this didn't happen I called customer service and spent an additional 20 minutes only to be told my service would be on no later than 5:00pm the following day. I wrote an email o make a complaint about how much of my minutes were being wasted in "customer service". I received an email back only saying sorry and that my service should be on by five. The email never addressed my complaint but instead tried to reassure their service was top priority. When 5:00pm came and past I called customer service again and even while explaining my situation they first told me it was scheduled for activation the following day. I lost it. It took them 25 minutes to tell me that the business department had made a mistake and I need to call again tomorrow. Why? To waste more minutes on my verizon phone. Why was I not contacted when they found out the address they had didn't even exist? I want the overages for minutes returned to me as I was not given technical support nor any service during my conversations.
