Previously, when our DSL was provided by Embarq before being taken over by CenturyLink, we would encounter problems every 7-8 months which in my opinion is acceptable. Ever since CenturyLink took over, between the hours of 3pm-midnight/1AM EST, our connection drops from 4mbps/.45mbps with a ping of 25ms down to less then 1mbps/0.2mbps with a ping varying between 400-850ms.

For 2 years CenturyLink claimed there was nothing wrong with their network and the problem was on my end. Every time a technician was sent out, no problems found and was told everything is in working order. Finally, 2 years of this, they admit to a known bandwidth exhaustion and that it would be fixed by January 1, 2013. That was 5 months ago and still having the same problem.

Calling them now, all they tell me is that there is no estimated time of resolution but upon e-mail customer support, received a reply stating the estimated time of resolution is Feb. 2014. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

Have only stayed with them for so long because MediaCom is only other option for internet and could not afford their pricing for phone/internet/tv. Next good deal MediaCom offers I am taking it and dropping this pathetic excuse of a company.

Monetary Loss: $2000.

Location: New Carlisle, Indiana

I have had the same exact issues. 2 1/2 years and the techs coming out at least a dozen times and no issues.

They finally admitted their was a problem. Nearly a year later it was fixed. That lasted for maybe 6-9 months. Faster speeds (20Mbps down/2mbps up) were available so I go onto that and for the past 4 days the speeds have been anywhere from less than 1mbps to 14mbps down which is nowhere near 20 or even within the 16mbps which is the 20% loss worst case scenario according to them.

I just did another speed test (hardwired) and ping is 340 and download speed is 0.33, 60 times slower than I pay for.

After years of complaints and evening contacting corporate several times I get a cheap credit and the issue still isn't fixed.

I will be calling the area tech supervisor again here in a few hours so they can come out yet again and find no issues. This company is a complete joke and should be avoided at all cost!

Same here started Nov 2013 till present. They have blown over a dozen deadlines on having it fixed.

Refuse to even speak bout it much less provide any truthful information on why its taking so long or when they expect to have our net restored.

They did offer me a 30$ discount to help make up for the 19 months of 56k speed. Seems like the people with no other ISP's in area get to suffer through.

FYI I Ordered a business phone/internet line and now my latency and bandwidth issues have been resolved. I understand this is not a consumer friendly option but it was my last option to try with this company.

Same here. I have had the bandwidth issue for over two years as well.

Now I am having the latency issue (high ping) every night. It started around mid-Januaray. Their customer service will not acknowledge ANY latency issues.

They will only acknowledge the bandwidth problem if it is too low during the non-peak hours when they come to "fix" it. Having no other alternative for internet in my area I am stuck with the bums.

This company is a disgrace to all internet providers with high pricing, bad service and horrible upholding of the advertised product. To anyone reviewing Centrylink, this is a warning and a complaint as to the worst choice you could make for your internet.
