... just read the reviews all over the internet.

Unbelievable. We had phone and DSL for 8 years. Internet was not very fast but other than that was unremarkable, until... the non-ending nightmare started.

A line was cut near a public road and affected our service and a few of other neighbors. After it was repaired, the internet service went from bad to worse to none. So for months on end we experienced: dealing with their annoying and forever long phone tree; long waits once you get to the point where a live customer service comes on line; transfers to another customer service with attended disconnects and redials; spending entire morning or afternoons at home waiting for the repair tech just to get a call half an hour before the "window" CenturyLink gives you for the appointment to have them call and tell you they cannot "make it today;" appointments re-assignments in the last minute happens often; up-grade to a more megabits and more $$$ without any improvement and eventually no service. Why?

CenturyLink took your money but failed to send you a modem that would handle faster service; the cycle of poor service to no service starts again. Tech that comes to the house is rude and also bad mouths CenturyLink. My neighbor who had the same problem tells me about rude tech and how they are changing to cable. Customer service techs each tell a different story regarding problem.

Twice I was told it was not their service but my computer was the problem -- yes, once I was using a brand new Mac. :-) Finally one customer service rep speaks the truth and tells me there is a very bad splice on my line and from a scale of 0 to 15, the problem is at a 12!!! The rude tech that came to my house denies it and said he was the one who fixed it a long time ago. Refuses to hear that other neighbors have service problems as well.

Gave me a new modem. Next day: no service. Same tech comes again. Service now seems to work.

Next day, no service. I cancel the service as soon as I had time to waste on the phone waiting. Got service for phone line and internet from a cable company (not Comcast) ranked #1 by PC Magazine. Even kept my old phone number.

Current problem with CenturyLink: even after 4 phone calls they have failed to mailed me the return label that said I need to have to mail back the worthless modem and wires. I am also informed that if I do get the get equipment back to them within one month, I will be changed for the equipment. Today I called for the 5th time. The wait on the phone was so long (after I was transferred) that I had to hand up because I had a commitment.

When is the nightmare going to end?? I have a complaint form ready to mail to the Attorney General and FCC if they give me trouble with my last bill.

Reason of review: Poor customer service, bad quality, rude employees.

CenturyLink Cons: Nightmarish company to deal with, Horrible customer service, Excuses.
