Gina F. 20776: You can purchase one for 99.99 or lease for 6.99 per month. If you choose to purchase you may qualify for installment billing, 3 payments of 33.33. The fastest speed available at this time is 20M

E: No thanks. I'll take care of it myself

Gina F. 20776: VDSL2 modems are not yet available in store so you would need to get one through Centurylink, I can put you down for a modem lease and once they do become available you would be able to cancel that lease and use your own.

Gina F. 20776: You can do a self install for a shipping and handling charge of 14.99 or tech install for 59.99. I recommend the self install because it is cheaper and easy. If you do a self install I will give you one month free of our $12.99/mo CenturyLink @ Ease service that way if you have any problems at all with installation or activation, you will have priority technical support 24/7. This package also includes our Norton 360 antivirus protection ($99 value), a network installation for up to 5 wireless devices ($99 value), an annual PC Tune up for up to 5 computers with optimization ($69/ each value), and a 50GB digital vault for all of your important pictures and files on your computer.

E: Gina, that is 100% completely wrong. Why would you try that?

E: Very disappointing Gina. I would like to leave a comment with your supervisor.

Gina F. 20776: My supervisors are 100% sure that they are not available in stores.

E: Oh really? Would you like to bet my service on that? Because right now, you're losing it.

Gina F. 20776: I do apologize you feel that way. This information comes straight from the main

Centurylink headquarters. If you believe this information to be false you can take it up with the main office.

E: Let me just make a list of the available ADSL2 modems that are supported by CenturyLink

E: http://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Q1000-Qwest/dp/B005GGD51O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=135146****&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=Actiontec%09Q1000%09VDSL2%09Y%09N

E: Is the most common one

E: 2Wire 3801 Actiontec Q1000 Cisco DDR2200 Zyxel 870N Zyxel Q1000Z Zyxel Q100

Gina F. 20776: Alright, you are not in an ADSL2 Area.

Gina F. 20776: You are in a VDSL2 area.

E: This is straight off your supported modems list Q1000 VDSL2

E: The DDR2200 is the only ADSL2

E: Thanks for arguing with me though!

E: Better luck with another sales tactic. I'll make sure this is posted publicly so your supervisor can see it since you wouldn't let me talk to them.

Gina F. 20776: I can see if they would like to speak with you right now. One moment please.

E: Gina, it's already too late.

E: I'll go with comcast

E: Thanks for making the decision easier though

Gina F. 20776: Is there anything else I can help you with today? One thing to keep in mind about a cable connection versus a DSL connection is that with cable you share your connection with your surrounding neighbors. With our DSL connection you get a dedicated connection straight to your house. So you and only you will get the speed.

E: Nope you've helped enough already.

What you should do is purchase your modems from http://centurylinkmodems.com

You will get a Centurylink compatible modem with a 1 year warranty for 65$. Plus free shipping.

Well, reading this review page http://wirelessroutersreviews.com/zyxel-cable-modem-compatible-comcast-network-brg35503/ that is written by me, may be helpful here.

LOL this is too funny. If you have a VDSL line, you cannot use an ADSL modem.

In fact, the CenturyLink Customer Service rep was actually correct! All of the modems you had listed, were in fact ONLY ADSL compatible and NOT compatible with VDSL.

You weren't lied to.. you just didn't understand

Technically you can use ADSL modems on VDSL lines. You just need to tell the ISP to switch DSLAM port profile from VDSL to ADSL. Normally you wouldn't want to do this since ou are close enough to the CO for VDSL thus higher speeds.

CenturyLink Internet is in fact a huge disappointment. Currently (Jan 2013), they seem to only offer the ZyXEL PK5001z modem/router.

I do a lot with a router, including a lot of customized inbound port forwarding and NAT, My Motorola modem died recently after years of faithful service. They sent me out a ZyXEL PK5001z. Didn't work. In fact, 4 replaced routers in the past 8 weeks have failed immediately of after a week or two.

All their tech support in India or Philippines or such, were able to do is work off of a prepared script with virtually no understanding of American English to just talk with a customer. They have no technical ability or understanding. Once their script is over they bail. All they can do is send out another new modem.

Tech support knows nothing about the actual configuration of the modem or networking. For that, you are on your own ...

you know, "contact your system administrator". THIS MAKES ME CRAZY #*^W|~#@(, I am the system administrator.

It depends on where you live, I imagine if your on the old technology like ATM or adsl even, it might not be as good of a service. But, you all need to remember that your not entitled to have any of it.

I wish Centurylink would unplug every single persons line that wishes to complain and *** on these forums. Centurylink may have *** service in some places.

Sure, that's because they're trying to get you your *** *** to you. So, for once, just shut your mouth and smile.
