Upgrade promo fraudulent in nature- free upgrade to next level - turned out not to be as described at website specific to zip code. Speed next level "up to 10 mbps", in reality was throttled at 4.0 static Mbps. Any and all of you interested in complaining. I wrote 2 separate letters to 2 corporate officers, including the VP himself, James Butler. I did receive correspondances, they took notice. I would love anybody having trouble with this company, to have copies of my letters which will provide you, with what they did to me. And more importantly, email addresses. I can't do a class action suit on my own.

Told the same thing in East Texas. Got behind on my bill and now they have turned off my internet and say it's not available in my area.

Strange they would tell me this when my it was on two weeks ago, and my neighbors still have dsl. It's also funny how all of this trouble started shortly after Centurylink decided to sponser an NFL stadium (Seattle Seahawks' Centurylink Field).

I was told this very thing just yesterday about my DSL and I am very unhappy with them.

Same trouble in Indiana. Funny how the Bandwidth exhaust" just happened and no one reduced my bill or even called.

I was told today that Century Link is aware of the problem, and they are working on it. I am pretty sure they are going to be working on it in the future with out our account. We pay way too much money for this. I clocked my download at UNDER 56 k !!

I could dial up faster. We will be looking for another provider.

Having the same problems here in central Missouri. Centrylink's tech support keeps saying 'bandwidth exhaust' which is a fancy way of saying that they have in reality 'over sold' their available bandwidth.

They keep pushing the resolution date to the problem up month by month as my speed gets slower and slower. I contacted Fidelity internet and I hope to be able to switch to their service...

We started CenturyLink internet service a couple years ago. Much better than the dial up. The service is "3.0 mbps". Just recently video streaming slowed way down with lots of lengthy stalls. Checked the speed with a bunch of online speed testers and mostly 450-700 KBPS (two did report 1.1 & 1.7 MBPS). I contacted Century Link customer support and was directed to their online speed tester. It reported nothing but 2.9 MBPS for each of the six different server locations available.

I just now installed a real time internet speed recorder. I then ran the CenturyLink speed tester and the download speed it reported was again 2.9 MBPS but the real time internet speed recorder recorded only 414 KBPS (peak)during that test.

This sure looks like fraud to me.

I was sold this upgrade, as well, and have the same issues that you are having except my speed, due to a "bandwidth exhaust in my area", is barely 1 Mbps. I've contacted CenturyLink numerous times and I'm told each and every time that there is outage in my area and the engineers are aware of this and are working to resolve the problem.

Apparently, this isn't just in my area if you are in Fla. I'm in Kansas.

I work from home and this is costing me time and $$.

As of yesterday, CenturyLink said they would give me a credit of one month's service. I've been dealing with poor broadband speed since the beginning of the year so this credit doesn't really give me any satisfaction.
